Introduction

Hello, my name is Brendan Kenny and I am currently a junior at Coral Springs High School. I enjoy creating art, playing lacrosse, and history. Those things play a major role in my media consumption - with most of my media consumption relating to those topics - as well as being a major part of who I am.

After the first five months of school, I'm excited to move on to the 2nd semester and begin my foundation portfolio film. Learning the various technical terms and language/representational theories over that time has changed how I view movies, and what I will create for my foundation portfolio film. I've always enjoyed the idea of filming something but never knew how to start or what to do. Thankfully, this class has given me what I need though to create a film.

Beyond my aforementioned interests though, I really enjoy horror, thriller, mystery, and psychological movies. Some of my favorites are Fractured (Brad Anderson, 2019), Bird Box (Susanne Bier, 2018), The Mist (Frank Darabont, 2007), and Oxygen (Alexandre Aja, 2021). What makes me a particular fan of these movies is the real-life psychological concepts they all play on - whether it be individual psychology or group psychology. This makes the movie far more engaging as it causes you to have a deeper understanding of what the character(s) are feeling.

I aspire to make a movie in any of those genres but am open/willing to shift on that. Going into this project though I feel extremely nervous about what I will be able to do and create when making the "first two minutes of a film." Trying to balance the creation of an introduction that's not too vague but not overdone either is a daunting task. I look forward to seeing what I can do with this project though.
